WorkStreams - on-site rehabilitation program

WorkStreams is aware that employees are integral to the success of any company. Therefore looking after employee's health (work and non work related conditions) is essential so that musculoskeletal and psychological injuries do not cause lost or slowed production to a workforce.

On site occupational rehabilitation allows WorkStreams consultants to support your company from the ground level, allowing quick and comprehensive assessments so that injuries have the least possible impact on your company's health and productivity.

For several years WorkStreams has worked onsite at a number of Victorian companies, ensuring they have a well-planned occupational rehabilitation program. Our trained team of highly qualified O.H & S professionals can help your company identify what tasks create greatest risk to your employees health and safety; provide alternative risk management plans to reduce the risk of tasks; provide early intervention plans to prevent the possibility of WorkCover Claims occurring, provide employee assistance programs, in the form of short term counselling, and provide strategic therapy programs that assist employees return to work safely and efficiently.

WorkStreams consultants have found that the major benefits associated with an on-site rehabilitation consultant are:

  • The consultant can train supervisors and managers in how to deal with injured workers appropriately so that their conditions improve and the employee feels supported by the company:
  • The consultant can develop a suitable 'duties manual', based on qualified ergonomic knowledge, to provide managers and supervisors with an important reference. They will know what positions are most appropriate for an injured employee, to ensure that the condition is not aggravated and the employee remains at work.
  • The consultant is able to provide guidance to the most ergonomic way a task should be performed, to assist with injury prevention.
  • The consultant is able to manage minor injuries and prevent them from developing into WorkCover Claims.
  • The consultant is constantly available to address issues with difficult cases requiring urgent attention.
  • The consultant can provide education to employees about the benefits of return to work. They can change the perception that rest at home is the only way to recover from all forms of pain.
  • The consultant can have frequent contact with treating medical parties, so that changes in a person's condition can be quickly reflected in their return to work progress.

Overall WorkStreams consultants have found that onsite rehabilitation significantly reduces the length of time employees are absent from work due to injury. Employees feel confident to return to work sooner as they feel constantly supported.
